All About the 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport

If you're looking for a new SUV to elevate your commute in the Grand Forks, ND area, we recommend stopping by Rydell Nissan of Grand Forks and check out the new 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport. Nissan has redesigned the Rogue Sport with a bigger, bolder exterior, a more powerful engine, and the cutting-edge in-vehicle and safety technology you crave. Let's take a closer look at why the Nissan Rogue should be your next SUV.

The new third-generation Rogue Sport slots between the smaller Nissan Kicks and the slightly larger Nissan Rogue. While the refreshed 2022 Rogue Sport hasn't made its debut in the United States yet, Nissan has released the third generation Rogue Sport in Europe where it goes by the name Qashqai as a 2021 model. In the U.S., Nissan plans on introducing the refreshed Rogue Sport in the second half of 2021 as a 2022 model.

Industry experts believe the 2022 Rogue Sport will continue to share the same design as the European model. That's good news because the Rogue Sport gets bigger in every way. The bold front fascia now features a V-shaped grille with slim, full matrix LED headlights and boomerang-shaped daytime running lights cut below its sculpted hood. Fog lamps slung low in a prominent bumper add to the Rogue Sport's new aggressive look. Nissan upgrades the '22 Rogue Sport to 19- and 20-inch alloy wheels in various styles. The chiseled side body reminds you of its athleticism. LED taillights and an available hands-free liftgate finish off the rear fascia.

You can expect to see a Rogue Sport NISMO model appear in the near future. Nissan's NISMO (Nissan Motorsports) designation appears throughout their lineup of vehicles, offering race-inspired trim with red highlights and signature interior styling.

Power to Perform: 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport Powertrain

The European Qashqai version of the Rogue Sport comes standard with a hybrid powertrain. Industry insiders expect the U.S. Rogue Sport to continue with a gasoline engine as the standard but anticipate Nissan offering the hybrid powertrain as an option. The current information on the hybrid powertrain includes a turbocharged 1.3-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 12-volt mild-hybrid technology coupled with either a manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission. Front-wheel-drive models put out 158 horsepower while the all-wheel-drive version dips to 157 horsepower.

Nissan also offers the Qashqai with their new E-Power series full-hybrid powertrain that uses a 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine and a Lithium-ion battery integrated with a power generator, inverter, and a 188 horsepower electric motor. You can expect a similar powertrain option in the U.S.

You'll get Nissan's capable front-wheel-drive platform standard on the Rogue Sport, with the option to choose all-wheel-drive. In addition, the AWD system features selectable drive modes to match road conditions for maximum traction.

Nissan's new CMF-C (Common Module Family) platform used to build the refreshed Rogue Sport enables Nissan to upgrade the suspension system. Now you get improved MacPherson struts all around. The front-wheel-drive trims get an upgraded torsion-beam rear suspension, while the all-wheel-drive models feature a multi-link rear suspension. The result enhances steering and handling for a more agile and exhilarating driving experience, along with the usual fuel efficiency that Nissan Rogues are known for.

Interior Comfort and Convenience of the Rogue Sport

Slipping inside the cabin of the 2022 Rogue Sport should feel like sliding into the sleek, upscale cockpit you'd find in the luxury car segment. Many design cues come from the Rogue, including a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a 10.8-inch head-up display that projects critical driving data to the windshield.

You'll also find a 9-inch floating touchscreen that syncs with your smart devices. With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, you can make hands-free calls, access your favorite apps, stream your playlists, and more using intuitive voice commands. A 15-watt wireless charger and USB-C ports come standard as well.

Premium cloth upholstery will come in the lower trims but expect to see upper trims outfitted with quilted leather seats and other premium features like a leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel and heated and ventilated seats.

Nissan Safety Shield 360

You can expect to drive with confidence in the 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport as you'll get the Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite of driver-assist systems designed to keep you safer on the road. The suite uses a combination of radar and cameras to monitor your Rogue Sport's surroundings, alerting you to potential hazards. In some instances, these systems can intervene with emergency brake support and gentle steering correction to help mitigate or avoid a possible accident.

The suite includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, which scans the road ahead, alerting you with visual and audio cues to potential hazards and adding brake support if you fail to react in time. The Rear Automatic Braking system works the same while you back up, detecting objects in your path and braking if necessary. A Rear Cross-Traffic Alert system will alert you when a vehicle approaches from either side while in reverse and works with the Rear Automatic Braking system to help you avoid a possible impact.

Nissan's Blind Spot Warning system makes it easier to change lanes. This system scans your Rogue Sport's blind spots and alerts you when a vehicle enters a blind spot while attempting a lane-changing maneuver. A Lane Departure Warning system tracks your Rogue Sport while traveling within marked lanes. When the system detects an unintentional drift, it alerts the driver to return to their lane.

Nissan's Advanced Driver-Assist Technology

Nissan makes the ProPilot Assist system available on the Rogue Sport as it does on previous generations. With ProPilot Assist, you can keep your Rogue Sport at a preset speed and distance while in traffic. The system will automatically adjust your speed as traffic slows, even to a complete stop. An Intelligent Forward Collision Warning system watches two vehicles ahead, providing advanced notice to potential traffic situations.

At Rydell Nissan of Grand Forks, we know what SUV drivers want. That's why we stock an expansive inventory of Rogue Sport SUVs. We anticipate the arrival of the 2022 Rogue Sport in the coming weeks and invite you to schedule a visit to be one of the first to see and drive the upcoming model year. The automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection system gives you audio and visual alerts, and it applies the brakes to help you avoid a collision. Rear Automatic Braking. It can detect approaching cars that might be out of your line of sight, and it enables you to stop in time. Blind Spot Warning. Nissan Intelligent Mobility Safety Features Nissan has more safety features available on all its cars to help you stay comfortable and in control during your daily drives. It's known as Nissan Intelligent Mobility, and it is a suite of integrated safety technologies that assist you as you make various maneuvers and lane changes while driving. These safety features and technologies are available on all Nissan models. Intelligent Forward Collision Warning. This feature can "see" around two cars ahead of you and monitor the speed and distance of both cars. When the sensor detects sudden deceleration from either car, it warns you to slow down. Intelligent Lane Intervention. This feature works when the lane markings are visible, and it alerts you when you're getting too close to the lane lines without making an intentional move or signaling. The feature also taps the brakes to get your attention and get you to move back in between the lane lines. Intelligent Back-Up Intervention. This feature can sense when a car is approaching as you reverse out of your parking spot. It works in concert with the RearView Monitor and casts a wider net of awareness beyond the range of the camera. You'll know if someone's coming even before you see them. Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention. Sometimes you will start changing lanes, but you can't see if a car is in your blind spot.
