As the premier events center in the Fargo, North Dakota, and Moorhead, Minnesota, regions, the Avalon Events Center is a popular place for couples. Five ballrooms in the facility offer space to accommodate weddings of any size. The beauty of the ballrooms’ design lies in the way individuals can customize the spaces to fit any wedding theme, from classic to contemporary.

The Millennium Ballroom is the largest event space inside the Avalon Events Center, accommodating more than 300 people. This ballroom offers a 36-by-38-foot platform stage with rock concert-quality lighting and sound systems. Although it’s considered the smallest of the Avalon’s ballrooms, the Sheyenne Ballroom offers intimate reception space for weddings and wedding receptions. The 2,300-square-foot ballroom can comfortably accommodate up to 150 guests.

Several amenities provided include a full wet bar staffed by a professional mixologist. A comprehensive audiovisual system is available at no cost with each facility rental. Additionally, the Avalon Events Center maintains relationships with some of the top florists, photographers, and other wedding service providers in the region to assist couples with their wedding needs.

Ivy & Rose Warehouse in Fargo, North Dakota

An old industrial warehouse in downtown Fargo is now home to a chic events space, Ivy & Rose Warehouse. Formerly the headquarters for Lee’s Roofing & Sheet Metal Co., the building offers a blank-slate canvas that can be customized and personalized to fit any wedding style imaginable.

Samantha Klinkhammer and Katie Schiltz, Ivy & Rose’s co-owners, bought the property to complement their existing furniture and decor rental business, The White House Co. Ivy & Rose’s beauty lies in its simplicity: all-white walls and ceilings inside the warehouse building lend a neutral backdrop for weddings that are country classic, midcentury modern, or boho chic.

The warehouse consists of two event spaces, a bridal suite area, a multiuse room suitable for food prep, storage, a groom’s suite, two sets of restrooms, and an outdoor courtyard. Additional attractive features include its desirable location close to downtown Fargo, parking spots, and comfortable square footage to support large and small events.

Plains Art Museum in Fargo, North Dakota

With 56,000 square feet showcasing national, international, and regional fine art and ethnographic objects, the Plains Art Museum in Fargo serves as an attractive setting for any couple who loves art history. If your wedding theme incorporates elements of contemporary vibes with historic charm, then the Plains Art Museum makes an unforgettable wedding venue.

Once a turn-of-the-century warehouse, the building that is now home to the Plains Art Museum in Fargo has hosted hundreds of wedding receptions since the museum’s grand opening in 1997. Within the museum, you’ll find the following two spaces uniquely suited for wedding activities:

  • The Landfield Atrium is located on the first floor and radiates light, thanks to a stunning skylight. This space can accommodate up to 125 people for a formal dinner and cocktail-style reception.
  • The third-floor raw space offers an attractive area for wedding photography. Copious amounts of natural light flood the space, accenting aged hardwood floors and exposed brick walls that create an industrial, urban backdrop for wedding photographs.

The Barn at Green Garden Farm in Hawley, Minnesota

Country-themed weddings continue to be popular among couples. If you’re interested in incorporating touches of rustic charm to your wedding celebration, The Barn at Green Garden Farm might be perfect for you.

Located about 30 minutes from Fargo in Hawley, Minnesota, Green Garden Farm’s signature red barn with its gabled roof provides an intimate setting for a wedding and reception. Flower gardens, a pumpkin patch, and an apple orchard surround the barn with the best natural decor you could want in a rural wedding setting.

Green Garden Farm owners Bill and Cheryl Gottenborg first conceived of the idea of turning their barn into a wedding venue after their youngest daughter decided to use it as the centerpiece for her dream wedding in the summer of 2016. Since that time, the Gottenborgs have upgraded the barn and renovated the farm’s quaint granary to create a bridal suite and restrooms. The Barn at Green Garden Farm is available for couples to reserve from mid-May through October.

The Hjemkomst (pronounced YEM-comst) Center in Moorhead, Minnesota, offers a truly distinctive wedding venue that you won’t find anywhere else in the country, especially if you’re going for a historic, Scandinavian-inspired wedding theme. Its signature element is the impressive full-sized Viking ship that serves as the centerpiece for the facility. One can find other touches of Norwegian charm in the ornate carved Hopperstad Stave Church, a full-scale replica of the Hopperstad Church located in Vik, Norway.

Owned and operated by the City of Moorhead Parks & Recreation, the Hjemkomst Center has indoor event spaces to accommodate wedding parties from 50 to 300 guests. Celebrate with appetizers and cocktails around the Hjemkomst Viking ship before moving into the reception hall for dinner and dancing. The historic Hopperstad Stave Church can accommodate about 50 folding chairs and bench seating around the building’s perimeter for wedding ceremonies.
