What Is NissanConnect?

Nissan created this powerful technology as the heart and soul of their Nissan Intelligent Mobility platform. NissanConnect allows drivers to connect with their vehicle’s onboard computer and access various information to help them understand and anticipate vehicle needs. It also provides access to a platform of web applications for use with the infotainment system.

Drivers can sync their smart devices giving them connectivity wherever they travel through NissanConnect. You can also remotely operate certain vehicle functions with NissanConnect and take advantage of security and safety features.

How Do I Get NissanConnect?

Most Nissan vehicles manufactured in 2020 or newer, such as the Rogue or Pilot, receive a free 3-year trial subscription to NissanConnect. Feature availabilities depend on the model, trim level, packages, and other options. You can access your free trial by downloading the NissanConnect App on your smart device. Then, you can register your MyNISSAN Owner Portal Account to activate the service.

NissanConnect offers two-way communications between your vehicle and smart device. Once you’ve activated your service, you can begin exploring the different features available.

NissanConnect Features

Now you can communicate directly with your Nissan vehicle to accomplish various goals. NissanConnect elevates your driving and ownership experience, giving you access to essential vehicle diagnostics, lets you talk with your preferred Nissan dealer, and more. Here’s a rundown of the best features you’ll find using NissanConnect.

Synchronized Tech

  • Wi-Fi Hot Spot – Your Nissan turns into a powerful Wi-Fi hot spot that connects multiple devices for wireless connectivity to the internet.
  • Apple CarPlay – With Apple CarPlay, you simply plug in your iPhone and start using it. You can stream your favorite music, make hands-free calls, send texts, and more with intuitive voice commands.
  • Android Auto – Like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto allows you the same connectivity as your Android device. Plug it in to make calls, access music from Google Play Music, get navigation from Google Maps, and more hands-free.
  • Nissan Navigation – You have a built-in GPS navigation system with NissanConnect. It features turn-by-turn directions with visual maps to guide you to your destination.
  • Voice Recognition – You can operate your NissanConnect through this intelligent software, letting you access your favorite apps, control certain vehicle functions, and more.
  • Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System – With the Bluetooth Hands-Free system, you can use voice commands to answer your cellphone, even if it’s packed away. It works with text messaging to read your text and reply from a list of pre-loaded responses.

Security and Convenience

  • Remote Operations – Now, you can remotely operate your vehicle using the NissanConnect App, Amazon Alexa, or Google Assistant. Operations include locking and unlocking your car, setting the climate control, and sending navigation information.
  • Emergency Assistance – Powered by SiriusXM, NissanConnect will call emergency response in the event of an accident, connecting you via voice call. An SOS button allows you to call for emergency assistance in the event you can’t help yourself. You’ll speak directly to a live response specialist who can make the appropriate contacts for emergency services.
  • Roadside Assistance – If your Nissan breaks down or you get a flat tire, you can receive roadside assistance through NissanConnect. The live response specialist will contact a tow truck or other help if necessary.
  • Maintenance Alerts – NissanConnect automatically notifies you when your car needs regular maintenance. It also informs you when mechanical issues arise and lets you schedule service right from your vehicle or cellphone.

Customizable NissanConnect Packages

When you activate NissanConnect, you can pre-select applications that suit your needs. To make finding your favorite apps easier, Nissan created a simulator that allows you to experience the packages beforehand. No matter which package you choose, you’ll receive Bluetooth Hands-Free phone and streaming audio.  You’ll also get the Bluetooth hands-free text messaging assistant, voice recognition, and at least one USB connection port in your car. In addition, every package but the Mobile Apps package includes an HD radio and a built-in navigation system.

Every model comes with a trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio. Those packages that include navigation also have access to SiriusXM Traffic, Weather, Fuel Prices, and more. In addition, you can quickly look up movie listings, sports scores, and the latest stock market information.

When you opt for the version with mobile apps, you also get Facebook, Pandora, and iHeart Radio connectivity. In addition, packages with mobile apps and navigation also get Google Search, Twitter access, and the TripAdvisor app.

Safety Telematics comes standard with your NissanConnect system, which gives you the automatic collision notification service, stolen vehicle locator, alarm notifications, emergency roadside assistance, maintenance reminders, and real-time vehicle diagnostics. In addition, if you opt for the Premium NissanConnect package, you can take advantage of several vehicle alerts that help when a teen driver or another adult borrows your Nissan.

You can set up speed, curfew, and boundary alerts notifying you when your borrowed vehicle exceeds the parameters you set. In addition, NissanConnect’s alert system has a feature specifically for valets. This package includes the remote start, lock and unlock, and an alarm that flashes the lights and honks the horn remotely.

Going with the Premium-Plus package adds your journey planner, destination downloads, assisted search, connected search, and the Google Send-to-Car function.
